Cal Poly's premier student-run club focused on portfolio management and financial markets

Cal Poly Investing was founded in 2013 to give Cal Poly students of all years and majors a place to learn about and discuss investing. In our weekly meetings, we cover a variety of investing topics. Here are some (not all) of the topics we cover on a quarterly basis:

  • Fundamental Analysis of Equities - We discuss how to analyze a company’s financial statements and market trends to come up with a valuation for the company.

  • Events - We discuss current events happening in the markets and discuss what this means for the markets

  • Real Estate - We have realtors, investors, and professors from across the area speak on their experiences, as well as discuss the benefits of real estate and real estate investing.

  • Cryptocurrency - Cryptocurrencies and digital assets are also discussed, as they are completely new and revolutionary asset classes.

  • Startups - Through speakers or club members, we discuss startups or startup investing and what makes a good opportunity.

  • Stock Pitching - We want to be able to not only develop investment theses, but to convince others of them. So, we usually go over tips for successful stock pitches, though we apply the same principles to pitches of all kinds.

If you want to learn investing, become a stronger candidate for finance jobs, or just talk about the markets, then come to a meeting - we’d love to meet you!

Previously, we met on Zoom (Meeting ID: 916 293 6663) every Tuesday @11am, but plan to be in-person this fall. Keep up-to-date and discuss with our members through any of our social medias
